Constantius III

Constantius III, Roman general, native of Illyria. He captured Constantine the Tyrant (Constantine III) and in 410 put down the rising of Attalus. In 417 Constantius married the sister of Honorius, who made him partner of his empire, 421. For seven months Constantius was Emperor of the West, but Theodosius II, Emperor of the East, refused to acknowledge him. While preparing to make war on Theodosius, Constantius died at Ravenna in 421. His son became Valentinian III.
