Didius Julianus

Didius Julianus, or Didius Salvius Julianus, Roman Emperor, 28 March-2 June AD 193, grandson of Salvius Julianus, proclaimed emperor by the praetorians at a mock auction following the death of Pertinax. His election was not popular in the provinces, and the legions of Britain, Illyricum, and Syria revolted and proclaimed Septimius Severus. Julianus was deposed by the Senate and murdered.
