Gordian

Gordianus I, Marcus Antoninus, surnamed Africanus, known as Gordian (AD 158-238). He was proclaimed Roman Emperor in AD 238 at the age of 79 while proconsul of Africa. He made his son, Gordian II, his colleague, but when the latter was killed in battle before Carthage, Gordian committed suicide after a reign of 22 days.
